The Houston Chronicle reports:
Brenham-based Blue Bell Creameries has started construction on a fifth Houston-area distribution center to serve the northwest region. It will have about 12,000 square feet of cold storage – freezers keep the ice cream at minus-20 degrees and delivery trucks are designed to do so at minus-18 – and docks and 2,000 square feet for office and warehouse space.
The company will open the building at 22635 Tomball Parkway in Tomball to handle deliveries of Blue Bell products to grocery stores, convenience stores, ice cream parlors and schools from a territory going from U.S. 290 north to The Woodlands near Interstate 45.
No doubt, the new HEB, Whole Foods, and Sprouts groceries in the area are largely to be thanked for this new development. With new neighborhoods being built across the area and the Grand Parkway under construction, Blue Bell will find Tomball to be a perfect spot for its new distribution center. Meanwhile, we’re excited to see new jobs (and more ice cream!) coming to our community.
