The final touches are being put up at Creekside Elementary in the Woodlands. It’s one of four school about to open in Tomball ISD. With the growth comes a few challenges. Lawmakers are proposing increasing homestead exemption. It’s good news for home owners.
“You could pay taxes on a home worth a $100,000 as if it were worth 75,000, so that could definitely save a tax payer money,” Liza Winkler said.
“For the next five years they’re anticipating 3700 new students to come to the district. Obviously with the new schools they’re building right now that will help accommodate those students. Three of those new schools are expected to open in August and then another is expect expected next August 2016,” Winkler said.
