What’s Your Favorite Houston Astrodome Memory?

After a Texas-sized remodel, the Houston Astrodome could play home to many a business, with about 450,000 of leasing space. The Dome is also planned to host Houston Texans events, RodeoHouston activities, and the annual Offshore Technology Conference.

Craig Hlavaty reports: The Urban Land Institute has released its long-awaited report on what it feels the future should hold for the NRG Astrodome. The study’s findings come a month before the domed stadium celebrates its 50th anniversary. More than 75 people from Houston were interviewed for the study, according to today’s release. The ULI made several recommendations in the report, including developing 1,500 to 2,000 parking spaces in the lower levels of the Astrodome, creating a new “outdoor public space or live oak allée as a promenade between the light-rail station and the east entrance,” and redeveloping the historic building as a multiuse facility.
