Houston’s Beloved RJ Goodies Bakery & Restaurant OVERCOMES! Prepares to Reopen!

In the dark morning hours of January 6, 2015, North Houston’s beloved bakery and cafe, RJ Goodies, suffered a near catastrophic electrical fire. All upcoming cake and pastry orders were canceled, the restaurant was closed, and for months since their dedicated patrons have been going elsewhere. The little family owned business that everyone loved was devastated.

In spite of all this, we have recently learned that the manager, Lori Carvantez, has kept her staff on payroll this entire time. After months of gutting the whole place for smoke damage, replacing appliances, remodeling and renovating the entire venue, RJ Goodies is now preparing to open its doors again!

A few inspections are occurring this week which the venue expects to pass with flying colors. Patrons will soon be able to enjoy their long-missed favorites … fresh baked cake with butter cream frosting, grilled chicken salad, warm chewy cookies, handmade quiche, grilled steak sandwiches … are you hungry yet?

Also, please note that RJ Goodies is currently looking to hire a new cake decorator! If you’re experienced in the art and interested, please send your resume to
