On Saturday, May 23, Tomball’s 4th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Chili Challenge is taking place at the historic downtown Depot.
The Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) has sanctioned the cook-off. (Yeah, we had no idea that was a thing either, but keep reading). It will involve teams from across Texas, local businesses and organizations, and a junior division for kids ages 7-17. There will even be a margarita pour-off competition for teams registered in the CASI and Business cook-off divisions.
Community Bank of Texas has won the business division chili cook-off for two of the past three years, with Cisco’s Salsa Company taking top honors in the margarita pour-off in 2014 with its signature mango margarita.
Performing throughout the afternoon will be local country favorites, Tracy Park and the String Benders at the Depot Stage.
The cooking starts up around 9 a.m. with the music, vendors, kids zone and other public activities opening at noon.
To register your chili cook-team and vie for the title of “Best Chili in Tomball,” please email firstname.lastname@example.org, call 281-351-5484, or register on the morning of the event. CASI rules apply to all entrants. Visit casichili.net/casi-cookoff-forms.html for complete instructions.
