The Houston Airport System (HAS) announced on Tuesday that Ellington Airport will be the 10th commercial spaceport in the USA. Around that same time, Captain James Tiberius Kirk (AKA William Shatner) was confirmed for Space City Comic Con on July 24-26.
Technically, this is just a coincidence, but it’s still – as Spock would say – “Fascinating!”
The timing is out of this world.
Random chance seems to have operated in our favor.
In plain, non-Vulcan English, we’ve been lucky.
… OK, I’ll stop now …
According to HAS, the spaceport will be used to
boldly go where no man has gone before, launch micro satellites, train astronauts, conduct zero-gravity experiments, build spacecraft, and other enterprising activities.
Meanwhile, back at Federation Headquarters, William Shatner will be joined by Kate Mulgrew of Star Trek Voyager (along with most of her crew), Manu Bennett of The Arrow, Chad Michael Murray of Texas Rising, and a ton of other folks you’re bound to recognize. Click to View The Guest List.
Space City Comic Con takes place at NRG Center on July 24-26. General Admission starts at $20 and includes two kid’s passes for fans under 10 (additional kids are $5). Parking is $12. Check out www.SpaceCityComicCon.com for details.
Dr. McCoy: “Please, Spock, do me a favor and don’t say it’s ‘fascinating.’”
Spock: “No … but it is … interesting.”
