Mikaila Ulmer is a cute little girl from Austin, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a business guru or entrepreneurial genius. In fact, little Mikaila is the founder and creator of Me & The Bees Lemonade (originally Bee Sweet Lemonade).
She adapted her signature lemonade from her great-grandmother’s 1940’s era recipe, except Mikaila uses honey “instead of sugar or artificial sweetener, which would be healthier, save the bees, and support beekeepers,” according to NBC News.
As reported by our friends over at Texas Hill Country, after debuting her business plan on Shark Tank in 2015, Mikaila earned a $60,000 grant to expand her business. She landed a deal with Whole Foods, and now her lemonade will be sold in 55 stores across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Florida.
Over the past seven years (when she’s not at school or doing homework) Mikaila is a busy business woman. She’s committed to maintaining an environmentally friendly and healthy-yet-sweet product, and even donates a portion of her proceeds to help save the honeybees.
“I want to help save the bees,” Mikaila told NBC, “and use my great-grandmother Helen’s lemonade recipe.”
What an awesome gal!
