The Woodlands, TX — On Saturday, Catalina Humphrey was out walking her 10 month old puppy, Hercules, on a jogging trail near her home. The little Rottweiler pup and his owner were minding their own business, enjoying the weekend, when suddenly a strange man crept up and tried to attack Catalina from behind. That’s when Hercules’ defensive instincts kicked in.
The man is described as clean shaven, black, in his 20s, about 5’10”, and weighing around 175 pounds. He was wearing black jogging pants, a red shirt, and a black baseball hat. The attack happened somewhere along Sawmill Road in the Grogan’s Mill area of The Woodlands.
But before the attacker could harm Catalina, Hercules took a chunk out of him! In fact, the furry little guy tackled the man, pinned him to the ground, and managed to draw blood before the man broke free and ran away, cursing.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols in the area and are asking anyone with information to call them at 936-760-5800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP.
Meanwhile, Catalina is still feeling shaken.
“It’s still hard for me to want to leave my house because I’m still trying to wrestle with that,” she told ABC 13 News. “I think he can sense that something is wrong and I’m sad because I’m still upset about everything. So he’s been really good about letting me know that it’s going to be okay when I feel down about what happened.”
