Houstonians have been deprived of a Mac & Cheese Festival for far too long. Thankfully, Janie Enloe of Silver Street Studios has set out to change that. After visiting Chicago with a friend and experiencing another Mac & Cheese Festival first hand, she decided that Houston must have this thing. On Saturday, April 15, she’s making it happen.
“It was the happiest place on Earth,” recalled Janie to Houstonia Magazine. “We came back and we were like, ‘There’s not one in Houston’ we should do it.′ That was our inspiration. And there’s so many restaurants in Houston that have great mac ’n’ cheese, we were pretty sure we could make it happen easily.”
Over fifty area restaurants are participating in the festivities. They’ll be giving out unlimited samples of gooey pasta goodness in hopes you’ll vote for them as Houston’s Best Mac & Cheese. There will also be several local beverage companies supplying adult beverages, live music, games, and other entertainment.
The spectacular event will take place at Silver Street Studios. General admission tickets are $50 and include unlimited samples, your chance to vote for Houston’s Best Mac & Cheese, and five adult drinks. VIP tickets are $80 and include all the General Admission benefits plus quick entry, a Mac & Cheese Fest T-shirt, and access to a special VIP lounge.
