Despite desperate efforts to save them, rescuers could not get past the flames on the stairs. Three children — Terrance Mitchell (13), Kaila Mitchell (6), and Kyle Mitchell (5), — were trapped in a second story room amidst a Conroe house fire that destroyed their home and ultimately claimed their lives. Their grandfather, Pastor Bobby Johnson, and his son, Deacon Johnson, were severely burned saving a fourth child, 10-year-old Adrian Mitchell, and the children’s mother, April Mitchell. Both men are in critical condition, and needless to say, April is devastated.
Pastor Johnson’s wife, Carrie, is also being treated for burns. Several police officers, who were among the first to arrive at the scene of the fire, were treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
A note from a friend who set up the GoFundMe account reads, “Please find it in your heart to say a prayer and offer a donation to help this devastated family bury there children and pay a portion of what are sure to be astronomical medical bills.”
The cause of the Conroe house fire remains under investigation.
