Buckner International of Houston has been given a tall order. CPS has requested the organization help place 339 abused and neglected children in loving homes. These children are currently in CPS custody, and need loving families as soon as possible. In order to raise the $110,353 required to fulfill the request, Bucker is asking for your help. Thankfully, James Avery Jewelry has offered to match every gift donated today up to $25,000.
“As a community, we’ve been given a unique opportunity to do something really wonderful in the name of Jesus Christ,” said Albert L. Reyes, President and CEO Buckner International. “Child Protective Services has asked for help in getting 339 abused and neglected children placed into safe homes with loving families.”
To date, Buckner has placed over 4,000 children in loving adoptive homes. In addition to adoption and foster placement services, Buckner also offers counseling and support services to adoptive parents, adoptees, and birth parents.
This comprehensive approach to adoption works in the best interest of the child. As the organization’s website states, Buckner is “Dedicated to finding families for children, rather than finding children for families.”
Right now, over 107,000 children are available for adoption in the United States. More than 6,800 of those children are in Texas. Many of these kids were either abandoned or removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.
“To help meet this need,” continued Mr. Reyes, “we’ve received a generous offer from James Avery Jewelry to match any donation we receive, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. Thanks to this pledge and the support of several hundred donors, we are already well on our way to raising the money we need to help these 339 children. But we’re not there yet. We’ve calculated that we’ll need $110,353 to meet the request made by CPS.”
What will your donation accomplish?
- You’ll provide a neglected or abused child with a loving family and a home.
- You’ll provide foster parents with the training necessary to heal the trauma experienced by the child.
- You’ll provide the child a tangible manifestation of God’s love for them in the form of a family.
- The matching gift offer is only good through May 31, so it’s imperative that you respond immediately. Please give generously today to meet the needs of vulnerable and traumatized children who desperately need the stability and love we can provide.
“James Avery is going to match every dollar given, which will make your donation have twice the impact,” explains Ashley Patel, Senior Director of Donor Engagement. “However, we only have until midnight tonight to meet this challenge. As of early this morning, I’m happy to report that we have raised $17,413. We are so close! With that said, we’re obviously not done.”
If you donate on May 31 your gift will be doubled by James Avery.
