Katy Flooding Near George Bush Park Won’t Recede Soon Says Fire Dept

The following is an update on Katy flooding in the areas around George Bush Park via Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department:

Based on our most updated information from the Army Corp of Engineers, water levels in the Barker Reservoirs will not recede prior to September 7th under the best of conditions and with no additional rain. Anyone still in a flooded home who plans on “riding it out” should know that they will be under current conditions for at least 7 days and with the potential for rain in our weather forecast, this is a best case scenario that is likely to be extended.

Flood waters have been contaminated with sewage and should not be entered for any reason. If you or someone who know is still in a home in these flooded areas please encourage them to request evacuation and get to a safe place until the waters recede. For those residents who are staying in homes because they do not want to end up in a shelter, we are in communication with local churches who have Katy area homes willing to put up people displaced by flood water during this emergency.

Please help us to convey this information to anyone you know in flooded neighborhoods along George Bush Park.
